Finding Unlocked Cell Phone Deals

Here at Cell Phone Deals, we review cell phones and one of the one most requested types of phones are unlocked cell phones. Deals are available for unlocked cell phones, it’s just a matter of doing a little searching around.

For the uninitiated, an unlocked cell phone is one that you simply put your SIM card in from your existing phone and it will work. It’s a great way to upgrade to a better phone without the hassles of changing anything on your cell phone calling plan or incurring extra charges for buying a new cell phone. An unlocked cell phone isn’t a deal if you can’t use it on your current cell phone network, so always and forever verify that the unlocked phone that you want to purchase will be able to work on your calling network or you will have just purchased a very high tech paperweight.

Cell Phone Family Plan Deals

Got kids? When the time comes that they start asking for their own cell phones, or you’ve gotten to the point that you’re tired of having to go get your own cell phone out of your teens room; it’s time to start thinking one of two directions. You can either get your kids their own phones and make use of the “pay as you go” feature most cell phone companies have, or if you want more control over the cell phone account – a family plan may make more sense to you.

Not all cell phone family plans are created equal so it’s a great idea to shop around a little bit. One of the best ways to find unadvertised deals is to contact your current cell phone service carrier and ask them what they can have as far as family plans and if there are any deals. Often you’ll find that there are indeed cell phone family plan deals to be had.

Another point is cost. Find out if texting is included with the cell phone plan. A cell phone for your teen can sound like a fantastic idea until you find out that it is just a base plan for minutes and it’s going to cost $19.99  for a text messaging plan and another $19.99 for a data package because you know your teen will be posting to their Facebook page.

Before you start searching around, it’ a good idea to write down the features you need. Then you won’t forget anything and you can get quotes to make an informed decision for your cell phone family plan purchase.

Pay as You Go Cell Phone Deals

Pay as you go cell phone deals are almost exactly like a prepaid cell phone with the except that they often are even more flexible in terms of what you can pay to get service. Go Phone by AT&T for example offers deals as cheap as $1 per day on the days you use your phone and then you can either pay ten cents for text message or buy a data package that starts at around $4.99 for 100 messages and goes up to unlimited messages for around $25.

Most of the pay as you go cell phone deals have 2 rate plans, you can buy a lesser cost monthly plan that will expire and every 30 days and must be renewed or you can get a slighter more expensive plan that will include the option for your money to not expire every 30 days but you’ll have 90 days to use the funds with the option to make a small payment and roll over the amount if there’s anything left on the phone at that time.

For anyone that doesn’t use a cell phone every single day or just wants a cell phone “just in case they need it”. A pay as you go plan may be the way to go to have cell phone service and still not pay a high monthly bill.

Prepaid Cell Phone Deals – Are They Really Cell Phone Deals?

Prepaid cell phone deals can be a great idea if you have a teen or you’re on a budget. Cell phone plans can get expensive fast once you add on data and text packages and the majority of cell phone service carriers won’t notify you if you’ve gone over your limits on your minutes or data package and they will simply start changing your for an overage which can really add up.

That’s one of the reasons prepaid cell phones really are a great deal for most people. When your minutes run out, your phone won’t work until you refill it. Ditto with text messages or any other function that requires dialing out of connecting – if there’s not money  the phone won’t work. This makes it very easy to set a $25 limit per month on phone usage and stick to it with no financial surprises.

Most of the prepaid cell phones have deals where you can get service plus a data package so you can spend as much as you truly need to. Prepaid cell phones are also a great way to teach your teen how to budget. Let them earn the money for their prepaid cell phone and also their minutes. If your teen doesn’t have a job, agree on payment for chores done and let your teen learn to budget. This is a good way to instill and the groundwork for financial responsibility.

We have some great prepaid cell phone deals, look around our site and see what’s right for your budget.

Cell Phone Deals News: Wireless Carriers Agree to Notify Customers of Overages

As of October 17, 2011; wireless carriers across the board have agreed to notify customers who are coming close to exceeding their cell phone plans to help them avoid surprise overage charges.

Here are some other tips to keep your cell phone plan the deal it originally was.

Cell Phone Deals Tip #1
If you run over your minutes and it’s the first time, call your cell phone company before you “just pay it”. A lot of carriers will work with you and some will even forgive your first overage if you ask them to before you pay the bill. If you get bill payers remorse after you pay for the overage, you just agreed it was accurate when you made the payment so it’s not really worth wasting your time or theirs pursuing it.

Cell Phone Deals Tip #2
Ask your cell phone company to let you know what tools or apps they have to let you know when you’re nearing your call/text/data limit so you don’t have an overage. In the event you have an older phone that simply nothing is available for, mark your calender and check your bill balance and minutes/megabytes left on your plan to make sure you’re not close to maxing it out for the month.

Cell Phone Deals Tip #3
Consider adjusting your cell phone plan. If you’re paying an overage almost every month, consider that you may just need more minutes and it’s far more economical to up your minutes than pay a penalty every money. You’ll wind up paying less in most cases (and it will be so much more, search around it’s time to switch cell phone companies).

Cell Phone Deals Tip #4
Prepaid cell phones are often very economical and you cannot go over your plan because once you pay that’s all the time/data minutes you get until you pay again.

Getting Family Cell Phone Deals

Got teenagers? Then you know the pain of being asked for their own cell phone. It can get expensive if you don’t shop around. And shopping around is the smartest thing to you can do to get a great deal on your teen’s cell phone.

Get some quotes from a few of the cell phone service companies and you’ll find that many have family plans that make it easy on your bank account to ensure the everyone has a working cell phone. Cell phones aren’t just for keeping up with their friends, consider with a cell phone, your teen will never have an excuse to be late, not check in or let you know what’s going on.  We aren’t saying they won’t blow off calling, but they no longer have an excuse especially with the availability of 3g and 4g networks so constant coverage is pretty much a given.

Samsung’s Droid Charge Review

samsung charge 300x207 Samsung’s Droid Charge ReviewPros
The Super AMOLED screen is awesome
4G LTE service runs very quickly, you’ll like the speed

Cons
Phone is designed over-sized and feels clunky
Battery has a mega-short life

Bottom Line
The speed almost makes up for the severey disappointing battery life. Almost.

Call quality is pretty good and no dropped calls. Also no one complained that callers sound like they are in a tunnel which we ran into on a different model we reviewed. The camera is an 8-megapixel and it’s not bad at all.

All in all this is an okay cell phone deal for the price, however if you use a phone a lot, the lack of batter life will drive you to distraction and you may find your phone is charging as much as it’s used. However if you just want speed for the times you use a phone to connect online or make calls – you will like this phone a lot.

T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide Review

T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide Review

The T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide is a really good deal on a cell phone. Here’s a little overview on this phone.

Pros
Absolutely killer camera installed
Lastest software but isn’t bloated with technology

Cons
Keyboard is hard to use
No HDMI port

Cell Phone Deals Review

The myTouch 4G Slide is one of the best cell phones we’ve reviewed and bar none, it has the hands-down best camera we’ve come across. But you don’t use your phone for just photos and video right? So what else can this baby do?

The Slider Design is super thin at only 0.54 inches thiuck and the phone only weighs 6.5 ounces.
The keyboard has keys that are decently spaced but it’s still not as comfortable to use as the Swype on the screen.

This phone has the same version as the HTC Sensation and they are simular in the way they handle it. The screens are fast moving and the latest version of Android, Gingerbread, is running underneath Sense.

Okay so you’re wondering, how’s the sound? The call quality is good and the sound is clear. People you’re talking to may feel that your voice doesn’t sound as close but you’ll hear everyone you call just fine.

Bottom line – Cell Phone Deals recommends this phone as it’s still a great deal for both the bells and whistles you get for a very good price.

HTC Evo 3D Cell Phone Review

htc evo 300x300 HTC Evo 3D Cell Phone ReviewPros
Fast dual-core speeds
Peak phone for entertainment
Great design

Cons
3D cool but young technology
Quality of calling isn’t all that great

Bottom Line
Even with the call drawback, this is the best phone you can get on the Sprint network and that’s not settling for anything this is a really excellent value cell phone for the price.

The 3D interface is pretty cool and the graphics are definitely a treat for the eyes. This phone is easy to use and extremely thin and light. A lot of thought has gone into the design.
If you want  a smart phone to multitask on – this is the phone for you. If you just want to make calls, the sometimes great, sometimes not quality of the calls may irk you.

Samsung Epic Touch 4G Review

samsung epic touch 4g Samsung Epic Touch 4G Review

samsung epic touch 4g

Samsung Epic Touch 4G is probably the phone you’ve been holding out for.

Pros
Excellent, bright Super AMOLED Plus display
Fast loading and seamless screen changes
Camera quality is excellent

Cons
Tons of bloatware (preloaded apps you don’t need)
The casing feels a little on the cheap side

Bottom Line
It’s thin, it’s fast and the Samsung Epic Touch 4G is excellent for all your multitasking needs from browsing the web to gaming to doing what a phone is for, making calls.

You will find the Samsung Epic Touch 4g is a little bit bigger than some of its competitors but it is crazy thin. This may be the thinnest phone you’ve ever seen.
This is definitely an cell phone deal worth having.
